In the past few weeks the idea of

congestion pricingtraffic pricing

has been bandied about again and—as you would expect—some folks have been unamused. So of course yesterday a new team of political super friends announced that they've teamed up to nip that drat idea in the bud. Because really, why in the world would we, in an economic climate like the one we are in, want to have more money in the city's coffers and fewer cars on Manhattan's pock-marked road's? Why?

There is currently no congestion legislation up for any kinds of votes, but that doesn't mean that politicians can't come together to fight an idea that they, and maybe their constituents, abhor. "We want to kill this proposal before it even gets off the ground," the News quotes Queens State Senator Tony Avella as saying. Queens assemblyman David Weprin even went so far as to pull the class card on the issue, saying that it is "the type of proposal that really disproportionately affects the middle class ... and disproportionately affects small businesses."

So, we guess if congestion pricing ever actually approaches a vote, we know who won't be supporting it.
