The MTA says it's "operating near normal, regularly scheduled service across the commuter rail, subway and bus regional transportation network" except for the Long Island Rail Road is on a weekend schedule and there's busing on the Waterbury branch on the Metro-North New Haven Line, "due to weather-related equipment shortages."

The transit agency also says, "MTA crews continue to battle adverse conditions that could lead to difficulties during the rush hour. De-icers are in operation, working to prevent build-up of sleet and freezing rain on rails. Trains with scraper shoes are also in service," and "urges customers to take extra care when traveling tomorrow. Stay clear of the platform edges, use handrails on staircases, and step carefully when entering or exiting stations and boarding or leaving trains or buses." Check mta.info for more info (or see the rest of the MTA's press release below)—plus check out this video of a de-icer car!

NYC TRANSIT SUBWAY Subway cars were stored underground to protect the equipment. Because of this, some express service may be impacted this morning until all trains are put back in service. Customers should use extreme caution on stairs and platforms.

NYC TRANSIT BUS/MTA BUS/LONG ISLAND BUS
Service is operating on a normal schedule at this time but customers should expect weather related delays on all routes. Limited-stop service has been suspended in New York City, those buses will make local stops instead. Routes and operating levels are being evaluated. If conditions deteriorate, service may be curtailed or suspended this morning.

METRO-NORTH RAILROAD
Metro-North is operating on a regular weekday schedule this morning. Customers traveling on the New Haven Line should expect crowded trains and delays due to severe and ongoing weather-related equipment shortages.

LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD
Long Island Rail Road is operating on a weekend timetable this morning, with the addition of train service on the West Hempstead Branch and on the Main Line east of Ronkonkoma. Peak fares will remain in effect. However, LIRR may have to temporarily suspend service in some portions of the railroad if icing affects the ability of electric trains to properly draw power from the electrified third rail. Customers are advised that when at stations, they should listen to announcements and to take extra care when traveling.

BRIDGES & TUNNELS
MTA Bridges and Tunnels' nine crossings are open and traffic is moving. Drivers are advised to use caution on wet roadways.

ACCESS-A-RIDE & ABLE-RIDE
Due to anticipated dangerous ice conditions that will affect both roads and sidewalks, Paratransit service pick-ups scheduled before 10 a.m. today cancelled.
