A 50-year-old man's coat sleeve got caught on the control for his motorized wheelchair yesterday afternoon, causing him to shoot forward and fall into the subway tracks at the 125th Street 4,5 and 6 station. Jerome Billings fell into the area where the train would be rounding the corner into the station, but civilians and MTA workers jumped into the tracks to haul him up.

MTA worker Carlos Betancourt told the Daily News, I didn't think about a train coming. I just reacted. I just wanted to help." As other good samaritans pulled Billings out of the way, Betancourt jumped into the tracks and waved a flashlight to alert the oncoming train to stop. After being pulled out, Betancourt felt a sharp pain in his left leg, and went to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell with Billings. The two are in stable condition.
