This week, forty-one Republican Senators cruelly voted against the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, which would have provided $7.4 billion in health care and compensation to 9/11 responders and their survivors. Democrats were furious, but you know who else was outraged by it? Mayor of 9/11 Town, Rudy Giuliani, who called the vote "a very big mistake." We were just starting to feel proud of our former Mayor, until he said this: "Any time you treat Sept. 11 as a political issue, which is what they are doing...I think is just wrong. That's the wrong thing to do." True, it is wrong. And you've never done that, right?

Ignoring the overwhelming hypocrisy of Giuliani, who has the uncanny ability to connect even a minor league baseball game with 9/11, calling out others for using 9/11 to further their political goals, he makes some good points. "This may also be part of just a general phenomenon that some Republicans suffer from, as well as everyone else -- forgetting how serious Sept. 11 was. These are people, after all, who were hurt and harmed because of the worst attack in the history of this country. They're entitled to more consideration than this," he said, according to the Post.

Giuliani's sentiments about the health bill vote echoes the outrage of many of the 9/11 responders who were injured. "It's the Republican Party that has held the bill hostage...to help millionaires instead of heroes," said John Feal, a construction worker who lost half of his foot working on The Pile. So, let's leave it at that Rudy, and call it a day...oh wait, there's more? "President Bush never treated [9/11] as a political issue. I would think he would not have been in favor of using this as even some part of the leverage to get the tax cuts passed," he said. Um, c'mon.
