On Sept. 11 this year, NJ Transit worker Derek Fenton began ripping pages of the Koran and burning them at a protest of the proposed Islamic community center and mosque. He was identified and fired soon after for violating the New Jersey Transit's code of ethics. Now, Fenton has filed a lawsuit to get his job back, as well as monetary damages. In the lawsuit, the American Civil Liberties Union said that Fenton's dismissal violated his constitutional right to free expression; they argue that Fenton was off duty and not wearing any clothes that would have identified him as a NJ Transit worker at the time. Maybe he just wants a free car.
