Will Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz's diet take another hit, when (or if) Shake Shack moves to Brooklyn? The Daily News reports, "The iconic burger joint will open its first Kings County location next year at the Fulton Street Mall, sources told the Daily News Thursday. Shake Shack will get 'the primo spot' in the pedestrian mall, a source said, taking the space occupied by Tony's Famous Pizza at the corner of Fulton and Adams Sts."

Now, the Daily News has gotten Markowitz's hopes before, when it suggested Shake Shack would move to Metrotech back in 2008. Today, Marty told the reporter, "It's about time! I've been pitching [owner] Danny Meyer to come to Brooklyn for years and have always felt that Fulton Mall would be a great location."

A LIU student said, "This area is getting hip... I will go there for sure. My friends in Manhattan go there all the time." But a Crown Heights resident was disappointed, "This is really unfortunate. It's the same old tired story of the small businessman getting pushed out." (There are also rumors Tony's Famous Pizza will get a different space in the mall, which is undergoing renovations.)

Shake Shack currently has locations in Manhattan (Madison Square Park, Upper West Side, Theatre District, and Upper East Side); Queens (CitiField); Saratoga Springs, NY; and Miami; locations in Battery Park and Washington DC are to come.
