Before his team lost the World Series yesterday, Texas Rangers CEO Chuck Greenberg bitched about Yankees fans during the ALCS, telling KESN, "I thought Yankee fans, frankly, were awful. They were either violent or apathetic, neither of which is good. So I thought Yankee fans were by far the worst of any I’ve seen in the postseason. I thought they were an embarrassment."

Then, later in the day, Greenberg decided to take it back, issuing an apology, "Earlier today, in the course of praising the extraordinary support and enthusiasm of Texas Rangers fans, I unfairly and inaccurately disparaged fans of the New York Yankees. Those remarks were inappropriate. Yankees fans are among the most passionate and supportive in all of baseball." Hey, that's more like it! But we can understand why he was complaining—Yankees fans did throw beer bottles at the Rangers bullpen as the Bronx Bombers were getting beaten and were allegedly assholes to Rangers' ace Cliff Lee's wife.

Greenberg also said he spoke to "directly to Hal Steinbrenner and Randy Levine to apologize for my intemperate comments" while the Yankees simply said they would adhere to MLB tradition of not distracting from the World Series. Still, a source told Newsday that the Yankees had "a lot to say" after after the World Series—hmm, maybe they will sign Lee!
