The 30-year-old Staten Island resident, who police believe killed his parents in their Staten Island home on Wednesday night, was arrested in Israel today. Eric Bellucci, described as a "brilliant but troubled" Stuyvesant High School and Williams College grad, was spotted by an airport employee at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv at 2:30 a.m. EST. He was "trying to book a flight to Beijing, China via Istanbul on Turkish Air" with his credit card, but when that didn't work, he attempted to get cash and was reportedly acting suspiciously.

Bellucci was taken into custody and is expected in NYC this weekend. His sister called the police when she went to her parents' home and saw blood near the front door; police then discovered the bodies of Arthur and Marian Bellucci, 61 and 56, stabbed multiple times. Bellucci is described as a schizophrenic who recently stopped taking his medication. The Advance reports that his parents "lived in constant fear.":

Eric often threatened to kill them, friends said.

Arthur recently took precautions, taking his son’s hunting rifles to the 123rd Precinct stationhouse in Tottenville during a buy-back program a few months ago. He also asked Frank Floridia of Rossville, a former law enforcement officer and close friend for nearly 20 years, how to “trace” his son’s movements.

“He knew something was going to happen. He was gearing up for it,” Floridia said.

Bellucci had been living with his parents and worked at the family's home health care company where his mother and sister also worked.
