In the early hours of Thursday morning, two employees of the Branded Saloon in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn were stabbed at the newish bar, located at 603 Vanderbilt Avenue. News 12 reports that one man was killed and another is in stable condition, and that police have arrested one suspect. According to a post on the Brooklynian message board, there was some form of altercation between a dog-walker and a bar patron and bartender. The Branded Saloon's Facebook page confirms that employee Chai Eun J Hillmann was killed and another employee named Daniel is in stable condition. The bar will hold a candlelight vigil on Saturday at 8 p.m. [Via Brownstoner]

UPDATE 2:30 p.m.: The Daily News reports that the fight broke out after two dogs got into an altercation on Vanderbilt Avenue and someone touched the attacker's girlfriend. The bartender, Chai Eun Hillmann, was stabbed to death outside, while Daniel Hultquist, a waiter at Branded Saloon who was playing guitar that night, was stabbed in the neck when he tried to get involved.

UPDATE 3:45 p.m.: It turns out that the suspect, Daniel Pagan, is an ex-con who served nine years in prison for shooting a man in 1991. According to the Post, Hillmann, who was not working at the time, chained his dog outside, where the Pagan's dog was also chained and a fight broke out after the men were discussing whose dog would win in a fight. Hultquist then ran outside to intervene and was the first one wounded. The fight ended in the street, where Pagan allegedly fatally and repeatedly stabbed Hillman.
