It's a double-double! Thanks to the current heat wave the temperature in Central Park has now reached 90 degrees at least ten times for two straight months. The first time that's happened since 2002. It's highly unlikely but maybe this will be the year for the first ever triple-double!
As expected a giant ridge of high pressure has built up over the eastern third of the country. Under that dry air mass the city will heat up into the low to mid 90s through Wednesday. Well, the humidity is likely to climb starting on Wednesday as the ridge and the Bermuda High become enamored with each other. Thursday won't be quite as warm, but the high will still be close to 90.
The forecast gets really unreliable toward the end of the week. What will Hurricane Earl do? Where will he go? Most likely we are looking at a wet and windy Friday as the hurricane makes its closest approach to the region.
