The Gay Pride Parade will march on this year, just like every other year—except on June 27th the participants will not turn down 8th Street, which is filled with businesses, as it has in the past. Instead, it will turn down the residential 9th Street, where it will be met by angry residents and their wickets! The West 9th Street Block Association is angry, and here's why:

President Patty Brundage has been on the phone with the 6th Precinct, the parade organizers, and many others to express our outrage at a major parade coming down our residential street. Most importantly, we have just spent $10,000 to plant our wickets, plus several thousand more to replace wickets and trees, and all this new work and the trees and flowers will be threatened by thousands of spectators crowding the block.

Won't someone think of the wickets, whatever they are? [via Curbed]
