Last night, police arrested one suspect for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Central Park early Sunday morning. Robert Gonzalez, 18, of Brooklyn, was charged with criminal sexual activity, attempted rape and attempted robbery. The two other suspects were identified as Shawn Martinez and Kelvin Dalrymple, both 18. The three were caught on a surveillance video at a Duane Reade on the Upper East Side and a tipster called Crime Stoppers with information on Gonzalez.

The three men allegedly took the victim about 300 feet into Central Park near 86th Street and Fifth Avenue, where they forced her to the ground. According to the News, "She was forced to perform a sex act on one of them while the others exposed themselves, police sources said. But the young woman fought back, prompting her attackers to strike her in the head, rob her of valuables and flee." She made it to Fifth Avenue where a taxi driver saw her, gave her a shirt to cover herself and called 911.

There are differing reports on how the victim, a 23-year-old woman who lives in a Bronx homeless shelter, met the alleged assailants. WABC 7 says, "Police say the men met the victim and another woman at a subway station, and then they all went to the park together with the intention of smoking marijuana. The other woman left before the attack," while the News reports, "Police said the trio met the 23-year-old victim while she was waiting for a crosstown bus at E. 86th St. and offered to take her on a marijuana-fueled walk through the park around 3:30 a.m."

The victim is in unknown condition at Metropolitan Hospital.
