City Council member Ydanis Rodriguez's promise that acts of civil disobedience would continue every Monday until Arizona's immigration law was overturned was kept, as two more politicians were arrested with 35 protesters yesterday for disorderly conduct. City Council member Melissa Mark-Viverito and State Assembly member Adriano Espaillat, along with union, clergy and community leaders locked arms at Federal Plaza to block traffic, and promised more protests until immigration reform is implemented. Henry Singleton of Local 1199 told NY1, "I think Federal Plaza better get ready for every Monday that there will be thousands of people coming down here to be arrested here and on Broadway."

Brooklyn Congresswoman Yvette Clarke was also issued a ticket at the rally, where protesters demanded “just and humane" immigration reform from Obama and an overturning of Arizona's law, which many believe promotes racial profiling. Last week, 16 protesters were charged with disorderly conduct for blocking traffic downtown, and a similar protest is planned for next week. New York Immigration Coalition’s Chung-Wha Hong said, "We got to change the laws to help the people. It's bad laws hurting good people, so instead of blaming the people, let's fix our law."
