Judge Colleen McMahon seems like a don't-pee-on-me-and-say-it's-raining kind of judge, whether she's telling suicidal hedge fund swindlers to stand up in her courtroom, or upholding a ban on selling tobacco-flavored products. But when city lawyers tried to dismiss a sexual harassment lawsuit from her courtroom, she let them have it in writing on the record: "You people are nuts."

Officer Monica Bermudez is suing the city, alleging she was harassed by a lieutenant and cop in the Bronx Evidence Collection Team after she rejected their romantic overtures, and was discriminated against by other supervisors after she was injured in the line of duty. City attorney Ivan Mendez Jr. filed papers to dismiss the suit even before the six cop defendants had been served with papers. While it's not unusual for attorneys to try such legal maneuvers, and even less unusual for Judges to be annoyed by them, Judge McMahon took the "surprising" step of documenting her grief in an official court order. "The city has no standing to move to dismiss...before the officers were [served papers]. Please don't do this again!"
