Having been raised on horror films, and actually donning a Freddy Krueger costume for 4 straight Halloweens, and after seeing that trailer for Human Centipede... there's little chance that the latest Nightmare on Elm Street will leave us with much fodder for bad dreams. But a low fear factor doesn't mean it's not worth seeing! Right? There are some concerns: the Wes Craven franchise was led by Robert Englund for years, but he's been replaced by a new Freddy (same sweater, same lethal hand); and in all likelihood nothing will come close to that scene where Johnny Depp gets sucked into his waterbed. However, the NY Times gives us hope, saying "to its credit, the remake, directed by Samuel Bayer, tries to recapture some of the grisly wit of the original." But alas, in the end you may be letdown, as the same paper describes it as being "moderately entertaining and instantly forgettable." But for nostalgia horror fans, it might just be worth it.
