There was considerable alarm last week when it was reported that the last train line in the nation to offer bar car service during rush hour would become history. Metro-North is replacing its 1970s-era train cars on the New Haven line with a new fleet, and officials said they had not commissioned any new bar cars, which are beloved by tippling commuters on their way home from work. But a group that represents rail passengers now says the booze will continue flowing after all. Jim Cameron, chairman of the Connecticut Metro-North Rail Commuter Council, tells the AP that officials assured him there "are no plans to eliminate the popular bar cars on rush-hour trains." Sobriety crisis averted!
