Adding more fuel to the fire under the NYPD right now, statistics show that crime this week is up compared to last year, rising 3.5% for the week ending Sunday. The Post reports that burglaries were up 9.5%, robberies up 8.2% and there have been 12 murders so far this week, compared to last year's 10. Those two can be attributed to Saturday night's 2 train stabbing. Although crime is still lower than in 2008, Bloomberg admitted that "We have fewer police officers than we did before. More cops always helps."
