A 22-year-old man who died of stab wounds outside the China Club early Saturday morning was caught up in an altercation over a woman. Kenyatta Cotterell, the father of a 3-year-old son, was fatally stabbed in the chest after one of his friends flirted with the girlfriend of another man. During the altercation that erupted outside the service entrance to the nightclub around 4 a.m., Cotterell was stabbed in the chest, and two other unidentified men were stabbed. Cotterell's brother tells the Daily News, "It was really pointless. We were fighting over nothing."

Meanwhile, in Washington Heights, a 23-year-old freshman at Medgar Evers College was fatally stabbed several times in the chest and neck outside the Vibe Lounge on Audubon Avenue, around 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning. After being stabbed, Ariel (El Chino) Almanzar collapsed on the sidewalk in front of his friends and was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he died. Two men, one of whom was slashed across the face, were taken into police custody, but neither has been charged. "A fight broke out between some guys, stupid things," a friend of the victim tells the News.

While you might think the lesson to take from these incidents is to simply stay home on Friday and Saturday nights, you can just as easily wind up dead in your apartment. In Greenpoint, a 47-year-old man was found dead in a pool of blood in his kitchen yesterday afternoon, near Manhattan Avenue and Huron Street. Police discovered the body after the man's girlfriend asked a friend to check on him; sources tell the News the unidentified man's body showed signs of head trauma.
