Yesterday, the 17-year-old who involved in the killing of her friend's kitten—the cat died in a 500-degree oven— agreed to a two-year jail sentence, as well as not being able to own a pet for three years after her release.
The Post called Cherry's behavior "nonchalant" and the Daily News reports she "appeared calm compared to July when she pleaded guilty to attempted burglary and animal cruelty in Bronx Supreme Court and stuck out her tongue and yelled, 'It's dead, b---h' to an animal activist in the audience. Yesterday, she said 'yes' and 'uh-hum' to the judge's questions and said she broke into [her friend's] flat to 'mess the place up.'"
Cherry has ransacked Valerie Hernandez's apartment along with a 14-year-old friend. (The 14-year-old was the one who put kitten Tiger Lily in the oven and turned on the gas— Cherry didn't do anything to stop her or save the cat; the 14-year-old was sentenced to 18 months in juvenile hall.) An animal activist—one of a few present for the sentencing— told the News that she wished Cherry were being punished more harshly, but added "I feel good we were there for the victim who was an animal who couldn't speak for itself."
