This year (and last) the annual Greenwich Village Halloween Parade was scaled back after sponsors were hit with budget cuts and donations slowed down. As of October 12th only three floats were expected (down from the normal 20).

There's been a last minute save, however. WCBS reports that "a dozen floats are now being prepared." It seems the community came through to make it happen. However, one local man was quoted as saying, "I'm against all parades. People think that they can get away with anything when they're in a big group of people."

Like it or not, the parade will go on around 7 p.m. this Saturday. Let your freak flag fly, etc. and share your photos with us—send them to [email protected] or tag them with "gothamist" on Flickr.
