Have the NYPD raised a SkyWatch over Canal Street to curb the alleged "spike in crime" in the area, or are they cracking down on illegal vendors and counterfeiters again?
NYC the Blog happened upon the scene over the weekend, and reports back that "above the hectic crowds of Canal Street this Sunday afternoon was a Skywatch unit. Sitting near Church St looking east down Canal, the tactical tower was supplemented by two officers near by on ground duty. It has been reported that the towers get dispatched to areas that have seen a spike in crime. [We] couldn't help wonder if they might be keeping an eye on the street vendors in the area selling Gucci sneakers on the cheap."
Indeed, the Counterfeit Culture has had a watchful eye on them before... and their peak holiday season is nearly upon us.
