New York is in for another royal visit when later this month Prince Harry makes his first formal visit to the United States. The 24-year-old will take to the polo field on Governors Island on May 30th where he'll play in the second annual Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic. The match coincides with the 400th anniversary of New York as well as the opening weekend of Governors Island, with proceeds from the event going to American Friends of Sentebale.

According to the press release the trip is just two days (May 29th and 30th), but maybe he'll not-so-formally be here for longer? The British Consulate says they cannot confirm his arrival date, but the first official function is the 29th. His time here will include paying his respects at the World Trade Center site and participating in the official naming of the British Garden at Hanover Square, which pays tribute to those who died on September 11th. He'll also visit the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Manhattan and the Harlem Children’s Zone, a nonprofit that offers a comprehensive network of education, social service and community building programs to children and families in Central Harlem.

The most publicly-accessible event will be the polo match, and NYMag points out why America is suddenly so interested in the "Ginger Fox." They note that while originally all eyes were on Prince William, that changed when a few years ago "that thing happened to his hair—and shortly after, a completely different and wonderful thing happened to Harry's torso." Wonder if he's allowed to take his shirt off during these formal visits.
