On Saturday afternoon, the super-hyped Snuggie™ Pub Crawl will capture a generation's lazy zeitgeist by bringing debauchery, blankets and irony together in one time-wasting event. (For the uninitiated, the Snuggie™ is a blanket with sleeves; this commercial will fill you in on the details.) But wait, there was a Snuggie™ pub crawl this weekend! Did we miss it?

No, it's just that the organizers of this event, called Snuggie™ Fest, have a major beef with the Chicago-based organizers of the bigger, corporate-sponsored Snuggie™ Pub Crawl. The Snuggie™ Fest guys say they were the first ones to don Snuggies™ and drink in public, an achievement they're rightfully proud of, and they think it's bogus that next weekend's pub crawl costs $20, which comes with discounted Budweiser and mixed drinks in eight East Side taverns. So on Saturday they held their suggested-donation Snuggie™ Fest to raise money for their friend Dan Barli's leukemia treatment fund, which really makes the Chicago Snuggie™ guys look like a bunch of assholes. According to Time Out, about a dozen D.I.Y. Snuggie™ enthusiasts showed.

So which side are you on? Neither, you say? Well, perhaps this photo from the San Francisco Snuggie™ Pub Crawl will change your mind. It's not too late to pay $20 to look like a jackass; alternatively you could just show up Saturday to see if a Snuggie™ rumble breaks out between the opposing camps. The party starts at noon at The Village Pourhouse, and since it's supposed to be warm this weekend, we expect things to get slippery.
