Police believe that a jealous man shot his girlfriend and her other boyfriend before shooting himself in a co-op on the Upper West Side. The Post reports that the co-op's owner, Debra Silver, 46, and the two men were found in the 8th floor apartment on West 93rd Street.
According to the Daily News, Silver had been making dinner for Daniel Tedlie "when Miguel Rivera showed up Friday night." Rivera apparently shot Silver and Tedlie; police found "Rivera was found sitting in a chair with a 9-mm. handgun in his lap and a gunshot wound to the side of the head." The shooting occurred on Friday night: "One resident told a doorman about the gunshots and he knocked on the apartment's door, but there was no answer and he left." But on Saturday, the super spoke to the resident and then called the police.
The other residents didn't realize shots had been fired. One told the NY Times, "You hear a lot of pop-pops on the Upper West Side, and they’re not always a triple homicide," while another said, "I thought somebody dropped something very big, and I did hear it twice. I don’t know what a gunshot sounds like, especially if it was that close. I thought it was a loud bang. We have heard people drop glass and break above me, and people drop pots.”
Another area resident told WCBS 2, "It's a pretty good block. You get it (violence) even in the best neighborhoods."
