ir_sat_090507.jpgThe string of pleasant, if not all that meteorologically interesting, weather continues today with another sunny, mild day. More of the same is expected tomorrow, though the mercury may crack the 80 degree mark. The Weather Service has finally come to their senses and backed off their earlier prediction of highs around 90 on Friday and Saturday. They are currently calling for highs around 86, which is more in line with weather.com's predictions of the lower-80s. The next chance of rain is Sunday at the earliest.

Later next week there's a slight chance we may get rained upon by a tropical system. A disturbance of non-tropical origin centered west of Bermuda has shown signs of becoming organized as a tropical storm. If it gets organized and strengthens it will become tropical storm Gabrielle. Current indications are it will make landfall in the Carolinas on Monday.

A couple of weather tidbits for you today: Oregon Scientific has recalled four models of their weather radios because the radios might not receive National Weather Service alerts. And in Euclid, Minnesota this past weekend, a 21-year-old personal check fell on the farm of Joe and Elsie Stroot. The check was blown to the Stroot farm after a tornado ripped through Northwood, North Dakota –fifty miles away.
