If you're in the West Village or Chelsea today, swing by one of these happenings:
1. Trish Grantham billboard painting: "With the help of up-and-coming artists, Visa is transforming a Greenwich Village intersection into a cornerstone of art and expression. As part of a multi-day project, ground-breaking artist Trish Grantham will create a one-of-a-kind billboard mural under the banner of a Visa's newest ad, "Life Takes Expression." Below Grantham's mural, Visa will also showcase artwork representing various forms of artistic expression, including sculpture, graffiti, furniture and fashion design, among others. Grantham began painting the billboard, located on 7th Ave. and 10th St., this morning and will continue working daily until its completion."
2. Transportation Alternatives schwag giveaway: "On Monday, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer will celebrate Bike Month NYC by sponsoring a bike commuter rest stop with food, drink, bike bells, lights and bike maps on the Hudson River Greenway. At the rest stop, Transportation Alternatives will present the Borough President with the Friend of City Cyclists award." 5:15-6:30pm Hudson River Greenway bike path & 13th Street (Pier 54)
3. Graffiti artists drop some science: "Eyebeam and the Wooster Collective present a night of technology based graffiti projects. Yes, Stevie Wonder is playing MSG. No, you can't afford tickets. See these shows instead.
LCD Soundsystem also uses synthesizers. Ok, maybe not the same thing. But it's still a great month for music in NYC.
