Hydroponics are all the rage - with marijuana growing, that is. This is the second pot farm bust of the week, with police finding a marijuana operation in Queens worth over $1 million. It turns out that hydroponically grown pot is more potent, and therefore more expensive (the Post says $350 per ounce). With margins like that, Gothamist can see why pot dealers would be attracted to big spaces in Queens and Brooklyn to grow their bounty - somewhat lower rents, but close proximity to a huge market.
Over the weekend, the FDNY responded to a complaint about a leak in a Brooklyn apartment and found a hydroponic plant farm.
